Battery Life

Living in Canada you know that our cold and often harsh winters can take a toll on your car. It is quite common in our winters to find ourselves with a dead car battery, or having trouble getting our cars started.

In order to avoid this it is important to keep our batteries in optimal condition.

The average car battery has a lifetime of three to five years. If you car battery is within that range it is important to pay attention to the signs that will indicate you are due for a replacement.

Having your battery regularly tested at service appointments helps ensure and monitor the health of your battery and lets us recommend when replacements are needed.

COLD WEATHER

Cold temperatures can cause chemical reactions in your vehicle battery to slow down. This is why it becomes more common to have battery troubles in the winter. When temperatures get colder their ability to provide adequate power to start a vehicle is weakened.

WARM WEATHER

Heat accelerates chemical activity and in higher temperatures speeds up internal corrosion and can in turn reduce the life of your vehicle's battery. This happens in vehicles that repeatedly have high internal temperatures and once this damage is done it can not be restored.
