Honda Canada Unveils Images of New Civic Hybrid

Honda Canada has unveiled the highly anticipated images of the upcoming Civic Hybrid sedan, signalling the addition of another hybrid-electric vehicle to the Japanese automaker's growing lineup. Production of the Civic Hybrid will commence at the Honda of Canada manufacturing plant in Alliston, Ontario, later this spring. This introduction of a hybrid-electric vehicle to the Canadian market is a testament to Honda's dedication to expanding the availability of electrified cars and meeting its global objective of achieving carbon neutrality for all products and corporate activities by 2050.

The Honda Civic holds an esteemed position in Canada, being one of the nation's most iconic and instantly recognizable nameplates. With a track record of more than 25 years as one of the most popular and highest-selling passenger cars, the Civic has earned quite a reputation. The new Civic Hybrid is expected to account for over 40% of model sales in North America, highlighting Honda's ongoing efforts to enhance its hybrid-electric vehicle lineup and cater to a growing demand.

Environmentally Friendly

By introducing the Civic Hybrid to the Canadian market, Honda is set to offer customers a fuel-efficient and environmentally conscious option without compromising on the Civic's well-established reputation for reliability and performance. With Honda's commitment to expanding its hybrid-electric lineup, the Civic Hybrid represents another step forward in creating a more sustainable and green automotive landscape.

Global Facility

Since 1988, the Honda Civic has been produced at the Honda of Canada Mfg. (HCM) plant in Alliston, Ontario. Following the retooling and investment efforts, the HCM plant was named the lead global facility for producing the CR-V Hybrid. Building on this success, the HCM plant has been designated as the lead North American facility for Civic Hybrid production. The plant currently employs 4,000 associates.

In line with Honda's vision to attain carbon neutrality for all products and corporate operations by 2050, the automaker is determined to expand the availability of electrified vehicles. Accordingly, Honda has outlined its plan to have battery-electric and fuel-cell electric cars account for 100% of their new vehicle sales by 2040. Recently, Honda introduced its first fully electric SUV, the 2024 Honda Prologue, as part of its electrification strategy. Also, Honda will introduce a mid-to-large EV model rooted in the dedicated e:Architecture by 2025.

Through its commitment to sustainable growth, Honda is continually developing advanced technologies to create greener vehicles and reduce their carbon footprint in the automotive industry. The Civic Hybrid and other Honda hybrid-electric and electric models are a testament to the company's dedication to realizing its vision.
